A sunset image taken at Wahoo Creek Park on Lake Lanier. Wahoo Creek Park is a recreation area on the north end of Lake Lanier in Hall County, GA. It is located on Mt. Vernon Road at the south end of the Wahoo Creek Bridge. It is a relatively small park but does have a boat ramp and a few wooded trails leading to the lake.

This is the last of a seriesof images i took on this colorful evening at Lanier. I may have a film transparency or two I haven't scanned i'm not sure. Happy Mother's Day and hope everyone is having a great weekend. Looking forward to home, the iPad is nice but cumbersome for photo work and typing :)

Duckett Mill Park is one of the larger parks I have visited on Lake Lanier. It is located just north of the mid-point on the lake off Hwy. 53. It has several facilities for tourists including a beach, extensive campgrounds, playground, boat ramps, and picnic areas.

Good morning everyone. I've sort of been under the weather the past couple of days so I apologize for not being up to date with all your streams. I'll get caught up soon. This is another from the archives from the one evening I spent at Duckett Mill Park outside Gainesville.

This is a sunset image taken at Mountain View Park on Lake Lanier. The park is located off Browns Bridge Road near Gainesville, GA. When the water is low, it is one of my most favorite places to shoot Lanier. It is quite popular with local bank fisherman as it has a nice secluded beach area from which to fish.

On most days, there is a time just after the sun goes down on the lake when everything comes to a stand still. The winds die down, the ripples stop, and most the boats have stopped criss-crossing whatever cove you are on. Even the birds have stopped chirping. To me, this is the most magical time for the surroundings. The colors of night come alive admidst a feeling of overwhelming peace. It's my favorite time to be sitting on a rock with a camera.

Red-shouldered hawks generally inhabit deciduous and conifer forests. This particular one is sitting in a pine tree. They do not migrate, except for those populations breeding in the northeast and Canada do migrate to northern Mexico.

They can grow to have a wingspan of 40 inches, with the females being larger than the males. Mature adults have a red heavily barred breast. Their tails are dark brown with white stripes.

Bill's hawk from the backyard came to visit me this afternoon. He must have heard on the grapevine that I have a lot of rabits roaming around. :) In seriousness, this guy was sitting out my office window. All I had was my 70-200 non IS so I did the best I could with him.
