At the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa's West end this morning for my son's graduation ceremony from Algonquin College. A very proud day for our family, as he starts his career in high tech. He was hired before he graduated.
All the hubbub lately was in reference to the City of Ottawa surpassing the 1 Million mark in population. That's a far cry from the 350k or so inhabitants when I graduated some 30 or so years ago. There has been some organic growth to the base population, but also a big push for amalgamation of surrounding communities in 2001 drastically increased the numbers. It has been said that on average, 28 individuals a day move to this city.
Though my son already lives and works in this city, he is the future, and will contribute to the continued rise and success of Canada's capital.
