I know, I am just a pigeon, but it still feels great to fly like an eagle on a sunny day... and for those unaware of the Victoria weather, the picture was definitely not taken today. Pigeons are great subject to practice flight shots and they fill your photo stream with nice colors. I know many people who are closet pigeon lovers :) Let's see who they are all ;) Hope you all have a great weekend with great photo opportunities.

If you are like me, you probably hoped that this downy woodpecker as it climbs at the top of this branch would simply turn around, just for a tiny bit of a second and make a nice eye contact with you... well, "If life was like that..." the Master Card publicity says. So close to a much better shot .... when he reached the top of the branch this bird just flew away. So, to all of you who wonder how the good shots are achieved, I would say after many several more that are almost good... but If you are a bird photographer, you already know that.

This oystercatcher was sharing the log with a mate but got very annoyed at some point... I think it got tired of being followed .... So this is not the relax stretch but rather the "Stop riding on my coattails" type of stretch... I guess just like people, sometimes the birds can have a hard time reading body language. And for those who follow me, unlike the oystercatcher, I do not mind being followed, so thank you very much for all your visits and comments. They are greatly appreciated. As a piece of update, I was finaly able to go back to the Esquimalt Lagoon today and my Killdeer that was crying for help a few days ago is still around and seems to be doing well... I was amazed. I could not see the eggs but I clearly saw her on the nest.... and doing her broken wings act as people were walking by.... Hopefully she can keep up with the traffic. View Large for details

The image was taken after several hours of photographing ducks. There was just a bit of light filtering through the trees. I was happily surprised when I got home to see how the sun setting had provided just enough light to properly capture the splish splashing of this wood duck. Yes, quite a dramatic contrast with my previous posting where the hooded merganser looks so cool and calm! View large for details
