Boy this was tough (but fun). Have you ever tried panning??? Not as easy as you'd think to keep the subject in focus. Granted, the runners had already done a little over 55 miles before they got to this point so they should be slowing down but, somehow, that did not seem to be the case. By the way, the runner in this shot came in third in this grueling run which starts in Squaw Valley and ends in Auburn. A total climb of 21,000 ft and descent of abt. 17,000 ft (or is it the other way around???) Either way, it is one tough run and the goal is to complete it in 24 hours. This year was very different from the past several years inasmuch as the the runners had to cross Granite Chief in 40 mph winds, fight their way through hail, rain and freezing temps before hitting more temperate weather after passing the high altitudes. Hats off to every one of these amazing runners. Oh, and did I mention that a new course record was set by Timothy Olson (I'll post a shot later of this great runner).
