This is it! Tomorrow morning @ exactly 5 AM, Paul and some 400 other runners will be taking off from here in Squaw Valley to run 100 miles across the rugged mountains of the Western Sierra Nevada. The top runners will do it it around 16 hours but the rest of the runners have until 11 AM Sunday to make it to Placer High School in Auburn, California. Please keep your fingers crossed. Paul will be running with bib #72 on his 72nd birthday - hopefully a good omen. You can keep an eye on him on the WS website: www.ws100.com

Geoff, the winner of WS100, is relatively new to ultra running, but he has won every race he has entered and set a course record in all but one. He set another record Saturday by finishing the race in 15h7m4s.

Even with flickr's new background option, I still prefer to view photos (yours and mine) on FLUIDR

... at least that's what this feels like according to my husband. His feet look a little better now that they have dried a bit but the blisters are still HUGE and walking is painful and difficult. Other than being very disappointed that he had to quit at 90 miles, he's doing well, albeit tired, of course. One of the problems was that they had to run a lot of the start of the course in deep snow and the later runners had to deal with deep tracks on either side of a tall hard middle making for precarious "running" to say the least. Anyway, onwards and upwards. There's life after Western States 100

As always, even with flickr's new background option, I still prefer FLUIDR
