Splash pic 04 - One cherry, one bowl of cream. Here the cherry is on the way UP, having bounced on the surface of the cream.

Camera triggered by a DIY optical gate 30cm above the pool (made from a HiViz trigger kit). Two off-camera flash units, one high camera left, one at 1/32 power close by to the right of the bowl. Methods and equipment used outlined in more detail in this blog.

Gravity assisted - higher truck speed, shorter flash delay.

Another evening of technical mucking about with friends Moose Malloy and mkratty

We are grateful to the tutorial provided by djunclesam to produce this image. Tutorial here:
www.diyphotography.net/creating-the-splash We used a photocell trigger with an interrupted laser beam and an adjustable delay unit, constructed by myself (kit from HiViz!), and a ramp and skateboard (with interchangeable decks for ease of changing the glasses) precision-engineered by Mark (mkratty). Paul (Moose_Malloy) suggested the idea and supervised the lighting :-) It's great when a plan comes together!

(Methods and equipment used outlined in this blog)

Strobist info: three flash units, all at 1/32 power, aimed at a white background (bed sheet), fired by radio triggers connected to the photocell trigger. One central under the table, and one each at camera left and right slightly above the subject and snooted.

A crossbow bolt crashes through a strawberry. Strobist info: Canon 430ex front right, Canon 540EZ in front left of subject, Vivitar 283 above and to the left. All on minimum power (1/128 or so, 1/64th for the 430). Triggered by Yongnuo 602s activated by a HiViz sound trigger. Thanks to Clive-the-bolt for operating the crossbow.

A crossbow bolt crashes through a hen's egg. Joint effort at "stopping time" with Mkratty and MooseMalloy - three cameras and a sound trigger - so you could see three pretty similar sets of pictures appearing on Flickr! Strobist info: Vivitar 283 and Canon 540EZ in front of subject, Vivitar 283 behind and to the left. All on minimum power (1/128 or so). Triggered by Yongnuo 602s activated by a HiViz sound trigger. The rear Vivitar is high voltage, so is fired by a Hama optical slave.
