Now that the Northern California Firestorm is almost 100% contained, I've been trying to get back into more of a normal life. Everyday thou, I'm stopped in thought and think of the magnitude of this unbelievable disaster and realize how lucky and fortunate we are. Serious pain goes out to the many friends that lost everything, it's just heartbreaking. Major props to all the men and women from all over the country and then some to come help in battling this monster of a fire. Their true bravery and skill saved many lives and us Sonoma County residents are forever grateful.

I took this photo 2 nights ago off of Highway 12 near Pythian Rd. looking at Mt Hood. Seeing the sky glowing 5 miles up the road prompted me to photograph this night. I have documented since the firestorm broke out on late Sunday, October 8 - early morning Monday October 9. I didn't photograph during that time but I have there after. I put my computer back together last night and will be going thru the images and have decided to share my take on this historical and horrific event that has devastated my hometown of Santa Rosa, California.

I don't think I prepared myself for the adrenaline rush that I would get when viewing Kalapana lava flowing into the ocean. Kilauea's episode 61g flow entering the ocean at Kamokuna, Hawaii is simply mind blowing and puts your senses in a different realm. The sights and sounds combined with the smells is unlike anything that I have experienced before in my life. I hope this image gives you inspiration to visit in your lifetime.
