Grise Fiord is the northernmost civilian community in Canada. In September 2006 a plucky Romanian tried to sneak into Canada by purchasing a tiny motorboat in Sisimiut, and dodging icebergs all the way to Grise Fiord. When he arrived eight days later he was almost out of fuel. He didn't realize how isolated Grise Fiord was, and that in its fifty year history it had never received unscheduled visitors.
