Plastic tiles for resurfacing a basketball court. The court's surface was concrete, and some portions of it were weathered enough to be uneven. These interlocking mesh tiles were screwed into the surface of the court -- and presumably can be replaced if broken.

The surface used both red and blue tiles. White stripes here were painted on.

the long armed device is a compass, which hooks up to another device which lays down equidistant stripes of tape for painting the white lines.
