Over Cambridgeshire, in fact. I wonder how the landscape has changed since Spitfires flew here in 1940? It was likely mostly farmland back then, but the fields would have been much smaller with more hedgerows in between.

Flying de Havilland DH.82 Tiger Moths, this team gave a superb, if rather sedate, flying display.
More than 8,000 Tiger Moth training aircraft were produced in the 1930s and 1940s and were considered the ideal training aircraft. Around 25 air forces around the world used them. Around 250 survive today, flown by private owners.
The aircraft centre right is actually a 'Queen Bee' model which could be flown by remote control and used for target practice - apparently unsuccessfully.
As they had no radio, some RAF Tiger Moths assigned to submarine-spotting duty were equipped with carrier pigeons to send messages back to wherever the pigeons decided to go back to. You couldn't make it up.....

A popular 1930s airliner that saw service for many years, from 1934 right into the mid-1960s. More than 700 were built. Several are still flying today, and short pleasure trips are regularly flown from Duxford. I had my Spitfire 'fly-alongside' trip in one of these.
Not much in the way of amenities, but all the seats are window seats. The 'safety briefing' was unusual. 'In the event of a crash landing, just follow the pilot - he's always the first one out after an accident'
