I finally managed to get some satisfactory shots of a dipper!
There is a juvenile and an adult in this series of five. I managed to track the adult for some time - I don't know whether it could see me through the trees in the river bank, it even ignored a dog jumping into the water a few metres away (just stayed still).

I believe this is a juvenile - and it returned to this grating (?drain outlet) a couple of times, I wondered if the nest had been inside the culvert.
