British Railways Standard class 7P 4-6-2 70020 "Mercury" at Euston having arrived with an express from the north - 10/03/1964.
The Crewe built (1951) Pacific was new to Old Oak Common before moving to Cardiff Canton in 1956. It was transferred to the LMR in 1961. It was a Willesden (1A) locomotive at the time of this picture, but was withdrawn from Carlisle Kingmoor in January 1967.

On this day, Ian Allan ran two train trains to Birkenhead to commemorate the last through working from Paddington to Birkenhead. The first train was the 1X82 "Birkenhead Flyer" which was worked by 4079 "Pendennis Castle", the second was 1X83 "The Zulu" which was worked by 7029 "Clun Castle".
This image features preserved Collett "Castle" class 4-6-0 7029 "Clun Castle" passing through Balderton with the Chester General to Birmingham leg of 1X83 "The Zulu" - 04/03/1967.

New England (34E) depot's Gresley A4 4-6-2 60029 "Woodcock" at York (50A) MPD in the company of unidentifiable Gresley A3 "Pacific" and a Sulzer Type 2 (Class 25) Bo-Bo diesel - 27/09/1963.
"Woodcock" eeked out its final days working from New England depot at Peterborough, it was withdrawn from BR service less than a month after this image was made and is believed to have been scrapped at Doncaster Works in early 1964.
