This is a picture from a couple of years ago, shot with my first DSLR. Not great but I liked the comp and the light.
I had my camera gear stolen a couple of weeks ago. As you can imagine, this has made me stop to consider photography and it's value to me as I pondered my response. Photography is, after all, a hobby. But over the years I've scrimped, saved, traded-up and shopped craigslist and ebay to get the kit I had. Losing it was depressing to say the least.
I decided that photography is important enough for me to replace everything to stick with it. So that's what I did. Hopefully the weather will cooperate this weekend so I can get out and do some shooting. It might just be time to head out to the desert for a couple of days.
