A very explosive and swift little owl. I waited under the perch for a while with my camera set up on a tripod and my finger on the shutter button. Once it shifted I held down the shutter and got a few frames of it leaving the perch. Photographed near Orleans, Ontario.
A dazzling display of the northern lights (aurora borealis) erupted on November 13th/14th. Even though it was considered a moderate geomagnetic storm (KP 6), it was one of the best light shows I have seen in years. I did have a tense moment, however, as anywhere from 5 to 8 coyotes closed in on me to about twenty five yards or so. They decided to take off, yelping all the way through the field back into the forest. Clarence-Rockland, Ontario.
