These two Oystercatchers return every year to my local lochan, but this year their usual nest, in a gatepost, has been understandably covered up to help them from being disturbed by the fishermen. When the return they often roost in the boats. This morning was a lovely pink sunrise and the waters were mirror flat. One male decided to try and win the affection of the female, just before I took this, but he was soon chased off!

I have been to The Loup of Fintry many many times but very little to show for it. The other evening, I took a punt. The river was in spate after so much rain, and just at the last minute, before the sun set, it broke through lighting the spray with some beautiful golden light!

I didn't have much hope the other evening at one of my local lochans, but just as the sun set, the low clouds drifted over from the mountains, and it turned out to be a beautiful sunset!

A brief interlude from Scottish landscapes. I thought this summed up this week's weather here in Scotland... Our Goldfinches are now out in force and we counted at least 25 yesterday in the bad rain with the same number of Siskins and Chaffinches. Needless to say the giant sunflower seed feeder was emptied in a few hours!
