Picture taken while on 6 mile circular walk taking in Hensol, Tredodridge, Pendolyan and Welsh St Donats.

Very nice lunch at the Red Lion in Pendoylan. Recommended.

Problem with lens distortion on the facing wall (and to a lessor extent on the tower). The pov does not have enough space around the church to allow use of software to correct the problem. I normally use ShiftN to do this. I guess its a revisit although sometimes the layout of the churchyard makes it difficult to avoid lens distortion (A tripod and ensuring the camera is totally level would probably have helped as well!).

It always amazes me what beauty can be found in the most local and rural of churches....

Interior shot of Pendoylan Church in the Vale of Glamorgan. PP with Tonal Contrast filter. No flash.

Some Background:
Parish church in Vale of Glamorgan village. Structure contains 14th 15th 16th century perpendicular with 19th century alterations. Nave, chancel, South porch and large embattled tower containing a ring of six bells.

There are some interesting features of the Church which can be definitely assigned to pre- Reformation times, the chancel arch being in the early perpendicular style of the 14th century. The stairs to the rood loft are perfectly preserved, and in the chancel there is a priest’s door which is walled up within. The first record of a priest of Pendoylan ‘Sacredos de Pondewelin’ was of one ‘Urban’ who sometime prior to the year 1205 had given 12 acres of land to the monks of Margam, his gift being confirmed by King John in that year.

Listed at grade II* for its medieval origins and special historic significance to the parish of Pendoylan.
