Species : Athyma zeroca galaesus
This species has a limited distribution area from Nepal, Bhutan, northern India, Myanmar, and Thailand. It is a little smaller than most other Athyma species with a wingspan of 45-55mm. The sexes are slightly different in appearance but the females are rarely seen. Unfortunately this is one of those species about which little seems to have been written. From my own experiences however it appears to be a montane forest species that is usually found above 1000m asl.

Also known as Wax Cicadas although not actually related to the Cicadoidea family. This species is about 20mm long and is stimulated by ants to produce large amounts of honeydew.
