A small butterfly that is very widespread from Sri Lanka and India across Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Indonesia. It is primarily a lowland forest species but it is not at all unusual to find them at altitudes up to 1000m. They are an avid puddling species and are often found in large aggregations along with other small blues. In Thailand Acytolepis puspa is usually the most numerous species and it can be hard work trying to pick out the less common species hidden amongst them.
The larvae feed on a wide variety of foodplants including members of the Fabaceae, Sapindaceae, Dipterocarpaceae, and Euphorbiaceae families as well as numerous others.

Species : Allotinus drumila aphthonius

This superbly camouflaged species is not easy to spot, especially when it is sheltering under dense vegetation like this one was. It is not a sun loving butterfly and is usually found in dark and shaded places within mountain forests.
There seems to be very little written about this elusive species but distribution appears to be from India through parts of southwest Asia and southern China, usually at low to medium altitudes.

A rare beauty found only in the northern part of Thailand. The upperside of the wings is a gorgeous deep purple.

Not particularly colourful but this butterfly has a fairly unique silvery colour on its underwings. It's difficult to capture without it looking like just another 'white' butterfly but I think I have managed it with this one. It is quite small and also a fairly rare species.
