As a change from the Thailand species here is an early UK butterfly photographed yesterday. She was in pristine condition and being very cooperative as she waited for the sun to come out and warm up her wings.

An uncommon species that is found in Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, mainland Malaysia, and southern China. It is a montane forest species and is frequently seen puddling on damp ground.
It rarely opens its wings other than to fly but the colouration of the upper wings is basically white with a black area at the apex of the forewing together with two black spots. The spots are also on the underside of the forewing although these are usually hidden when the butterfly is at rest. The hindwing is completely white. The markings on the female are more prominent than on the male. Wingspan is around 60mm.
