Also known as Wax Cicadas although not actually related to the Cicadoidea family. This species is about 20mm long and is stimulated by ants to produce large amounts of honeydew.

Species : Carpocoris mediterraneus

This species of shield bug is widespread throughout the Mediterranean region. It occurs mainly in scrubland and mixed forest areas. Adults are commonly found throughout the summer months from June onwards and the colour can be variable. Although quite small, they can grow to just 14mm in length, this particular individual caught my eye because its colour was so vibrant.
