Order : Lepidoptera
Family: Papilionidae
Subfamily: Papilioninae
Genus : Papilio
Species : Papilio slateri slateri

This is one of the smaller Papilionidae species with a wingspan of 65-85mm. It is distributed from India, through Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, southern China, and peninsular Malaysia. Habitat is usually hilly forested areas (up to 2300m asl) although they are sometimes seen at lower elevations. Their flight is slow and they usually stay fairly close to the ground. Females are quite secretive and rarely seen but males can often be found puddling on damp ground. Sexes are similar in appearance but the blue 'stripes' on the female are less prominent.
Little appears to be known about the lifecycle of this species other than it is single brooded, adults usually appearing in the Spring. Larval foodplants include Cinnamomum camphora and Litsea citrata (Lauraceae).
