This is an unusual underwing shot of the Dingy Skipper. Being a member of the Pyrginae or 'Flats' subfamily they are most commonly seen with wings laid flat at ground level. They love to bask in the sun, often on bare earth or stone.They are common through most of central and southern Europe as well as throughout most of the UK. Flying time is usually during May and June.
