I've always wanted to do one of these shots with the Milky Way.
Since I couldn't figure out the intervalometer on my D700 to work for star trails, I went for this shot instead. Had a small window before the moon came out and made the night sky blue. I should go back there again on a darker night.

Its been a while since I did a nightshot.
Decided to go out to Alki beach after dinner with a friend and take some shots. It was a calm day for great reflections.

While in San Diego, I decided to hit up Arun. I've been in awe of his stream ever since he was producing stunners with a little canon P&S. He has since then moved on to DSLRs and we're now FF buddies too (too bad he stuck with his original mistake - a Canon :P... But we're friends despite that!)
Like Arun mentions, we finally met, having known each other online for over 2 years. Of course I had to drag him to show me where he churns out one masterpiece after another of the lovely seascapes. It was a delight to meet and shoot with him - I look forward to more photo adventures with him!
Thanks to him - my first seascapes shot.
whee!

TADA !
This was what I had seen in photos everywhere and was absolutely thrilled to go there. It is SO GORGEOUS that no photo can do it justice - just standing there on the precipice, inching closer and closer (some folks - laying down) to get in as much of the vast scenery as possible into the frame. [This is when I felt smug at having a 17mm on a full-frame sensor - watching folks struggle to contain the entire scene in a frame]. A lady walked up to me and asked me if she could look through my viewfinder to see how I could manage to fit everything in the frame! Take that, suckers!
I was a little worried that my tripod would just topple over the ledge with the weight of the heavy D700 and the lens attached, but I was lucky. I was eager to photograph this on the last day of our trip, after having a less-than-ideal first day photo-op (we reached just as the sun was setting behind the canyon - leaving it in complete shadow).
We managed to catch the last light at horsebend just as the clouds were clearing, but only to start drizzling - when we wound up our equipment and started to leave.
We drove through snow/storm the last evening to reach Page and directly head to Horseshoe bend (not before making a disappointing stop at Lone Rock). The dark and ominous looking clouds were quite a sight - Launa was worried that we might not be able to make it to the Slot canyons the next day (her hobby is worrying).
I didn't think the distortion on this was worth correcting. Anyone have any different opinions?
The best way to view my stream - FLUIDR!
