The Northern Lights were unusually bright and static so i was able to take some shots with 60 second exposures. Looking almost due west.
It is unusual to see the Northern Lights in a summer sky, especially nearing full moon (which you can see reflected in the window).
They were also seen in July 1829 just prior to the huge floods - The Moray Floods - which caused great damage in the north and north-east of Scotland, including taking away the western most arch of the bridge in Nethy Bridge which had only been completed a few years earlier by Thomas Telford. Lets hope that doesn't happen again!!
