Gray whales (Eschrichtius robustus) are baleen whales, which exhale through TWO slits called blowholes on top of their head creating two prismatic misty towers high in the air. You can clearly see the two blowholes in the first image below.
PS The gray whales we saw were in the area between Vargas and Blunden Islands which is located west of Meares Island and northwest of the resort community of Tofino in the Clayoquot Sound region of the West Coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Wikipedia
