Fulbourn windmill near Cambridge, England, caught in the company of a rainbow during an April shower.
This shot was a partial accidental, or opportunity grasped as it developed, depending on your point of view.
I was on my way to visit a friend for dinner one evening last week on a day when the weather had been dominated by April showers. Whilst driving over to Fulbourn I was increasingly taken with the 'storm lighting' produced by a passing band of shower clouds combined with the golden hour sunlight.
Having previously assessed several locations to photograph Fulbourn windmill surrounded by different field crops, I decided that I had a chance to reach this location before the clouds had passed. After parking in a hurry and setting up the tripod, the rainbow started to appear, which was a bonus. I had a few minutes to refine the composition, then as usual the rainbow soon faded.
