Inveraray è una città in Argyll e Bute, in Scozia. È la storica sede del Duca di Argyll. Nel 1744 il terzo duca di Argyll decise di demolire il castello esistente e riedificare da zero. Il nuovo castello necessito' di circa 40 anni per la sua costruzione. Il prodotto finale non era un castello nel senso tradizionale, ma un classico palazzo georgiano su grande scala, il castello di Inveraray. La regina Vittoria lo visitò nel 1874. L'episodio natalizio del 2012 di Downton Abbey fu in parte filmato qui dove il castello raffigurava l'immaginario "Castello di Duneagle".
Inveraray is a town in Argyll and Bute, Scotland. It is the ancestral home to the Duke of Argyll. In 1744 the third Duke of Argyll decided to demolish the existing castle and start from scratch with a new building. The castle was 40 years in construction. The end product was not a castle in the traditional sense, but a classic Georgian mansion house on a grand scale, Inveraray Castle. Queen Victoria visited it in 1874. The 2012 Christmas episode of Downton Abbey was partly filmed here; the castle portraying the fictional "Duneagle Castle".
