Dark and moody photos often tell a story. This photo was made dark and moody when it was shot. Usually I do this when I want to turn to black and white, but this didn't need to be changed. I like the subtleties of the lights on the tent, the birds behind and the ocean.

I love people in photos. They add to the story...and to me this photo would be boring without my nephew Calin walking the shore in search of shells. It pulls you (the viewer) into the scene and what sights we enjoyed.
Waves of sparkle tend back and forth
like heartbeats rippling this ocean heart
pulsating over these earthly shores
where horizon fires blaze as day departs

In this photo I slightly changed the color...a mix of black and white and color. I wanted to show age, even when I was taking it. There is so much life and death thrown at you on the beach, much more than elsewhere. Bones and shells, rotting carcasses and the ragged coast itself showing the constant wear of time.
