3 days out in Death Valley on a canyon trip, we break free of the canyons and enjoy a night among the high desert. In the few hours I spent working on this photo, I would hear a owl hoot and wonder, "Is he the same I heard the night before? Had he followed me through canyon and snowy mountain and come all the way here to hoot?" Perhaps not, but it was nice to have company on such a splendidly amazing night.
