I saw this localised mound of trees when travelling home through Lhanbryde towards Elgin in the North East of Scotland. I wanted to get closer but there was a railway line in the way so this was as close as I could get. I guess I would have liked there to be a little less clouds as well but its hard to get nice weather in this area at the best of times, let alone when only visiting for 48 hours!

Finally, I felt that the water was a bit grey. Unfortunately the day I took the photo was overcast so that couldnt be helped. I decided to copy the image and use a layer mask. One layer was untouched and the other had the blue and cyan levels increased and some extra contrast to boost the texture and shadows. Then some careful penning and blurring was used to draw in the geese from the original layer. And voila! This whole process took about 20-30 minutes. I don't fancy doing this to all of my photos! I am pleased with the result although it would be easier if I could just take that kind of photo in the first place!

This is Sycamore Gap which has been made famous by Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. The tree stands in a gap between two small steep hills. This lies a few metres to the south of Hadrian's Wall in the North East of England
