All that remains, after a hard drive crash, of me on the way to Carnavale on the Rio de Janeiro subway. I think I had a leopard cat mask on my head. I was woefully short on bling at that time.

I knew he was a kindred spirit even before I moved to San Francisco. What happened to that dress?

Christ Redeemer and Corcovado Mountain
More than a postal card, Christ the Redeemer statue was deservedly elected one of the new Seven Wonders of the World. From the height of its 38 meters atop Corcovado Hill (710 meters high above sea level) was inaugurated on October 12th, 1931 and is an image of faith and sympathy, characteristic of Rio’s and Brazilian people. Elevators and escalators take visitors to the statue’s base. The statue weighs 1,145 tons. Going up by a small train takes around
20 minutes and goes along the Corcovado Railway – inaugurated by Brazilian Emperor D. Pedro II in 1884. (I took the train.)
