Hottest place on earth including hell. Everybody in my car on the Trans-Siberian Express (from Beijing) got off at Ulaanbaatar, and I went through Siberia by myself, with only my Chinese-speaking conductors for company. They fed me breakfast and lunch the whole way, though. Stepped off the train here to check it out--it was the hottest place I've ever been in all my life, like the whoosh of heat you get when you open a 350 degree oven, except it stays that way, pushing on you. Miserable. (The first time that happened to me on a train trip was in Iowa.) P.S. I was told (2010) that Ulaanbataar has surpassed Thailand as the sex-trade capital of the world.
