I just love the way light catches the feathers on hummingbirds. They shimmer and seem to change colors as the bird flitters about its business. Thanks for your views and comments!

As we had our first snowfall of the year overnight (yes, it is early!) I know that the hummingbirds will soon be gone. We had a good summer here to watch the hummers as they provided endless hours of entertainment at and around the feeder. I will be posting several of the photos I took sitting on our deck, capturing their crazy antics. I chose not to use a flash and tried various combinations of f-stops, shutter speeds and light conditions trying to freeze their wings as best I could. Thanks for viewing and have a great weekend!

I could watch hummingbirds for hours. They hover, seeming suspended in mid-air, only to dart away, dive and then rise up, all the while buzzing away with unabashed joy. Now that Spring is here they should be back soon. I can't wait!
