I stopped in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park yesterday on my way to Montrose to pick up some odds and ends. While the morning was overcast and a bit rainy, it made for some really cool opportunities at black and white images. This gnarly old cedar stump sits right on the edge of the canyon and seems to stand guard over this stretch. Thanks for visiting!

I've never been real happy with many of the canyon photos I have taken during the day at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, mostly because of the shadows cast by the walls in the sunlight are difficult to overcome. Friday was a revelation (sometimes I am not the quickest to pick up on these things!) as on an overcast and a little bit rainy day i was able to capture the magnificence of the canyon and avoid those shadows. The clouds also add a bit of moodiness that I like as well. Thanks for viewing!
