One of the really cool things about observing elk in Rocky Mountain National Park is that they are usually at ease with people, provided we keep a safe distance. There were many elk calves in the meadows of Moraine Park and it was heartwarming to see them interact with their mothers and other calves. This cute little one was napping in the grass and had just decided to get up. It was so close that I was having a hard time keeping it all within the frame. I was constantly "zooming with my feet" as there were many photo opportunities with this one and the others. We are headed back to the park in September for the elk rut and it will be so amazing to see how much these little ones have grown over the summer.
Full frame capture with no crop.
