Kestrel (f) - Somerset, UK.
After working nights, I legged it across to
Peter Spencer's new Raptor hide this morning just before dawn to see if anything was about. After just 5 mins the sun popped up over the hedge and 2 mins later this little beauty appeared in the warm and first rays of the day......Happy with that! She made approx 8-12 visits within the first hour......what a result! I didn't stay as I had to get my head down!
Peter has done a sterling job building several hides in the heart of Somerset as a project, which include this Raptor hide with Buzzards and Kestrels showing so far and a brief visit by a Little Owl and potentially a Barn Owl too (seen in the area recently. He has also built a fantastic Kingfisher hide, which facilitates the photographer to sit below water level thus shooting at or just above water level. The Kingfisher is in and out all day, so it's showing great potential and an exciting opportunity. Finally, he has a Woodland hide with a Sparrowhawk making visits too, all in a small peaceful area that is developing really well. For further info I'd recommend getting in touch with Peter Spencer as I'm sure he'll be opening up all three hides in the near future...... :)
