Trona Pinnacles under the Milky Way. Trona California. When I look back from now over the years of passion that I poured in to photography I believe this image is my favorite. I say this for multiple reasons that go far beyond the final resulting image we see here which to be honest falls way short in comparison to the amazing night shots found here on Flickr by a whole host of extremely talented photographers with much higher skill levels than I.
This image was produced along side a very special friend who like myself also shares a passion for this art. Much of what we perceive about an image we have created ourself centers around the circumstances of the shoot. Who you shot with, where you were and how you felt at the time, the weather and a ton of other thoughts and variables about the shoot that simply leave you with a overall feeling that comes back to us every time we view the image. For me this evening was enchanted by the warm breeze and the absolute solitude of the evening that found us in this magical place with nobody else in sight under a night sky that was so vivid you could reach up and grasp the stars and feel their texture. No sound could be heard other than the wind cutting through the terrain and the gravel under our shoes. After we left this amazing location I spent the next three hours during our ride home dreaming of the digital bliss I hoped I had captured on my memory card.
