User / Rana Pipiens / Foreign in the Garden. Petrea volubilis, Sandpaper Vine, and Giant Honeybee, Apis dorsata, Royal Botanical Garden, Peradeniya, Kandy, Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka and many tropical or semi-tropical countries 'round the globe are noted for their colorful flowers. Many of these are Bougainvillea and Lantana and such. Both hail from the West Indies. Just as this wonderful Petrea volubilis in the Royal Botanical Garden of Kandy.
It seems that 'local' insects haven't any problems with these 'foreigners'. The inset has that amazing largest of Honeybees, Apis dorsata; take a look at that tongue!

PS My internet connection - now in Trincomalee - is quite intermittent. So please bear with me with regard to my lack of comments...
