The Sentinel Range in Tasmania's South West. The Gordon River Road runs along the foot of these hills which at a modest 970m aren't the most impressive of mountains but they really do dominate the landscape driving to and from Strathgordon.

One of the two, 1970s walking tracks to the original Lake Pedder started just to the right hand edge of this image and also of note is the flat plain in front of the hills. This is standard issue Buttongrass moorland. Buttongrass (Gymnoschoenus sphaerocephalus) is a sedge that grows on some of the poorest soils and Tasmania has the largest expanse of such moorland in the Southern Hemisphere. The plant grows in clumps - usually on peat bogs - and hides all manner of traps for the unwary. Walkers may suddenly find themselves in thigh deep bog should they step off the track - or even on the track in some places. A couple of the plant's button-like flower/seed heads can been in the foreground, Sputniking through the scene at the end of their long stalks.

Took quite a few frames on this trip with various film cameras but most of the images were somewhat uninspiring.

Something a bit different, I managed to get back to a local poppy field last weekend, The light wasn't great, in fact we got drenched, but it was a wonderful to see a field of poppies again and just good to be out
