Snow-in-summer (Cerastium tomentosum) is an irrepressible plant, happily romping in hot dry difficult places where nothing else will grow. Its silvery evergreen mats spread to form weed-resistant ground cover over dry banks and even at the foot of a thirsty hedge as long as it gets sun for half the day or more - in light shade the plants grow taller, less intensely silver, and do not flower much. Even if totally neglected, the plants are alive from late spring to mid-summer with starry flowers which go well with their silvery background. Use it as ground cover in a dry garden teamed with other drought-proof plants.
