The Gaz-ex Exploder is a remote avalanche control device that uses a mixture of propane and oxygen (tanks seen at left) to detonate a huge concussion wave across an avalanche prone slope.
Located in the start zone of a known avalanche path, this Gaz-ex controls the avalanche prone slopes above a Highway 3 in Kootenay Pass, B.C. to preemptively trigger and release unstable snow, and enable safe Winter driving.
