Not a fashion statement, a deer deterrent. The urban deer in Greater Victoria are becoming quite aggressive, especially in the spring. Attacks on dogs are not uncommon, and my friend has been charged twice now, the second charge happening a couple of days ago. The stick, along with a lot of shouting, scared the charging deer away, as well as some passing pedestrians. The first time she was charged, by a group of four, some passing motorists came to the rescue by blocking the intersection with their cars so she and her dog cold get away.
