A small island community like Hornby Island has garbage issues, but the community recycling depot now recycles about 70% of the island's waste. To add to the decrease of waste, there is a "fee" store at the station, where you can pick up almost anything, for free. Like a free garage sale ... Note to visitors, please take your garbage with you :-)
