After making the ascent of Lingmoor Fell from near Blea Tarn House it was time to shelter in place while waiting for the rain to pass. This view was the reward for waiting out the rain. In the distance on the left are the Tilberthwaite Fells. Blea Tarn is in the center and immediately behind is Horse Crags and Wrynose Fell.
This panorama is a stich of two images.

. . . was erected ages ago (circa 1987) by Jim Reinders with some of his friends and neighbors.
The 96-foot-in-diameter creation has been built to scale, and it mimics Stonehenge’s current state. All 38 of the major stones found at Stonehenge are represented.
On the final day of construction, June 20, Reinders wrote: “Our schedule called for finishing Carhenge today. We were able to reduce the time of the original Stonehenge construction by 1999 years and 51 weeks. Now either they did not have a backhoe and forklift or they were not as well organized as we were. Furthermore, their foreign stones had come only the 250 miles from Wales while we had a car from Japan, some 6,000 miles away. Reason for pride!”
In the journal Reinders kept during the construction, he writes he and his friends worked hard on the construction during the day and retired for drinks at the local bar in the evening where they drank and sang, “By day I plant cars, by night I make bars.”
Carhenge was appropriately dedicated during the 1987 summer solstice.
The colour version for MickH 5 . . . sorry it took so long ;-)

After enjoying this sunrise several weeks ago, I have been setting the alarm so as to check the sunrise each day hoping for a repeat of this one. This was the first image of the day after the 100 foot walk to the shoreline. On the left side of the image is my neighbor’s dock which was to be my next and final location to capture the sunrise (this image was uploaded previously). Unfortunately moments after setting up on the dock, a fisherman's boat would race across the lake disturbing the calm water. In a few weeks the lake will freeze over for the winter . . . but until then, I’ll be setting that morning alarm!
