Looking down on the Windward side of the Hawaiian island of Oâahu, from the heights of Makapuâu Lookout. The sandy stretch below is Makapuâu Beach, one of the premier bodyboarding spots on the island. It is surrounded by black lava rocks which create all kinds of little tidepools just waiting to be explored.

Patterns and textures abound on a day with a little wind at Yosemite's high-country wonderland: Tenaya Lake. From the glacier-carved granite domes to the rippled surface of the crystal-clear water to the vertical lines of the firs and pines, there's some geometry here for every taste.

Trying out the new addition to my photography toolkit: the Olympus OM-D E-M5 mark III, with the 75mm f/1.8 portrait lens. Here's a shot of one of my more attractive neighbors, Anala, a 14-year-old Bengal tiger, who lives at Boston's Franklin Park Zoo. Anala came to the zoo after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service rescued her from owners who were keeping her illegally in neglectful conditions. Franklin Park Zoo was happy to provide a home for Anala and through her story educate the public about illegal wildlife trafficking. She now enjoys more comfortable, natural conditions, in a woodsy habitat with a stream and plenty of sun and shade.
