I was going through some older folders and found this image. I posted some of the pool before, but not the full pool, just close ups and fish eyes. I thought this deserved to get posted too. I was actually looking for some images to print large, I thought of this shot and was surprised it was not on my Flickr yet. So here it is, a little late, but posted.
Often photogs take the journey to the Grand Prismatic. Many take the long hike up the back side, in fact you can see the other side swarming with photographers at any point in the day. I wanted something a little different, so Tom and hiked up the hill on the other side, the side near the road. This is steep and not very easy to hike. We scrambled to the top, set up the shot, and just as we did, thunder. That's ok because its only dangerous if...oh, there's the lightning too. The clouds were coming in dark and fast. We started scrambling down the hill and before we hit the bottom we were getting soaked by huge rain. Worth it, I would do it again.
