It was late afternoon on a wintry day. Photographing from the ferry boat I had to frame images quickly. I loved the warm light of the sun, low in the sky, painting beauty in the water, reflecting the ochre and golden colors from the ancient buildings. Blue mooring poles stood out in brilliant contrast. The late afternoon light - the 'golden hour' - truly adds a painterly mood to any scene. It is a wonderful time of day.
