Just a few minutes walking distance from the Convent of San Marco in Florence, there are several gardens. I couldn't go inside as they were closed, but this charming scene was visible from the ancient garden gate. To spend a few peaceful moments enjoying this garden and the Giardino dei Semplici nearby was special. The historic part of Florence is densely crowded -- just as it was in the Middle Ages -- with narrow streets and no room for nature, not even trees. So it was pure pleasure to suddenly come across this little garden.
I was in somewhat of a trance in any case, after spending several hours at the Convent of San Marco experiencing the exquisitely moving frescoes there, by Fra Angelico. One of the highlights of my visit to Florence.
I truly recommend visiting the San Marco Museum.
