The Bronze Horseman is an equestrian statue of Peter the Great in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Opening of the monument took place on 7 August (18 August), 1782. Commissioned by Catherine the Great, it was created by the French sculptor Étienne Maurice Falconet. The name comes from an 1833 poem of the same the name by Aleksander Pushkin, which is widely considered one of the most significant works of Russian literature. The statue is now one of the symbols of Saint Petersburg. The statue's pedestal is the enormous Thunder Stone, the largest stone ever moved by man. The stone originally weighed about 2400 tonnes.

Медный всадник — памятник Петру I на Сенатской площади в Санкт-Петербурге. Открытие памятника состоялось 7 августа (18 августа) 1782 года. Является самым первым памятником в Санкт-Петербурге. Позднее получил своё название благодаря знаменитой одноимённой поэме А. С. Пушкина, хотя на самом деле изготовлен из бронзы. Модель конной статуи Петра выполнена скульптором Этьеном Фальконе. Гром-камень, на котором стоит памятник, был найден в окрестностях деревни Конная Лахта. Камень весил 2400 тонн.
