The Coca-Cola mural visible in the movie "Stand By Me" is still there, on Main Street in Brownsville, Oregon. People come to see the town upon which a movie shot over 35 years ago left an indelible mark. All of the signs on the store fronts for Stand By Me were painted by movie sign painter Toni Devereaux. You'll find Toni's name on the following IMDb website under "Art Department" as the signwriter.

Happy Wall Wednesday, everyone!
This is a mural by artist Simon Whiteowl. It's one of several murals on the walls of the Itty Bitty Inn located in North Bend, Oregon. I like how he incorporated the hotel windows into the picture.

Established in 1950 and delightfully Weird. A nerds paradise! Named Yelp's Number One Budget Hotel in the U.S. for 2019. A room with a 1960's Tiki Theme. Another room featuring Star Trek Amenities. Tesla charging stations. I didn't stay there but after reading their website I wanna. Looks like a fun place. Located in North Bend, Oregon.

I rarely post images of myself but I felt it was time. Nothing like getting photobombed by a giant goose, though.
Happy Monochrome Monday, everyone!

The Waldron Brothers’ Drugstore, also known as the Gitchell Building, is the oldest intact commercial building in The Dalles, Oregon. No, not Dallas. It's The Dalles! Two words!! I've driven by this old structure made of local stone countless times and would always remind myself to come back and take a few pictures but, never had the time.
This past weekend I finally made the time, and I'm glad that I did. Why? Because I found out the city council has voted to demolish this beauty due to "liability concerns should it collapse, a lack of public interest in preserving it, and the need to make room for future expansion of the adjacent sewer plant." WHEW! It probably doesn't help that the railroad tracks run dangerously close and the city’s Lewis and Clark Festival Park sits just west of the building should it decide to spontaneously collapse either way.
Very few places in the state, almost none, have the concentration of historic buildings that The Dalles does but Waldron Brothers’ Drugstore is the symbol of The Dalles to locals and visitors. That well-maintained advertisement you see on the side is an old steamship ad, as the city is located along the Columbia River. Built during the Civil War it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
It was my understanding that many would love to see that it's preserved but, the price tag could make it's salvation prohibitive.
